Dance Team Clinics

Fall Clinic 1

Date: Sunday, October 12, 2025
Time: 12 pm – 4 pm; Check-in begins at 11:30 am
Location: Sheila Umphrey Recreational Sports Center, 4405 Jimmy Simmons Blvd.
Registration Fee: $35
Age: High School and College students

Attire: Athleisure or dancewear in any color, including leggings, dance shorts, crop tops, sports bras, or athletic tops. Dancers should bring jazz shoes, half soles, or be prepared to dance barefoot. Additional layers such as sweatpants, tennis shoes, hoodies, or sweatshirts may be worn for hip-hop.

• Skill refinement and conditioning
• Jazz technique and combination
• Hip-hop combination
• Pom technique combination (Poms provided)
• Q&A

This clinic also serves as an opportunity to earn an invitation to in-person auditions or be recruited for the 2026-20267 51³Ô¹ÏProDance Team. This clinic is a great opportunity to get insight on LUDT as well as college dance team audition preparation for any dance program.

REGISTER FOR FALL CLINIC 1

LUDT All Access Prospect Day

This exclusive event is designed for high school juniors, seniors, and college dancers who are interested in auditioning for LUDT and want an inside look at the program. Participants get to attend an open rehearsal as well as shadow the team for an all-access game day experience.

OPEN PRACTICE
Date: Open Practice - Tuesday, November 4
Time: 4 pm
Location: Sheila Umphrey Recreational Sports Center, 4405 Jimmy Simmons Blvd.
Registration Fee: $75. Limited spots available. Only the first 20 registrants can be accepted.

ALL ACCESS PROSPECT GAME DAY
Date: Saturday, November 8
Timeline:

• 11:30 am - Prospects arrive at the Montagne Center.
  Prospects meet with LUDT and Coach for a Q&A session and to begin the full game day shadow experience.
• 12 pm - Cardinal Walk.
  Prospects shadow the team as they participate in the Cardinal Walk with dance, football, band, and cheer.
• 2 pm - Tailgate Parade through Boomtown.
  Prospects shadow the team as they participate in the Tailgate Parade with dance, football, band, and cheer.
• 2:40 pm - Field Access for Pregame Performance.
  Watch the LUDT pregame performance from the field.
• 3 pm - Kickoff and Game Time - Sideline & Stands Experience.
  Prospects will sit in the stands directly in front of the dance team during the game and take the sidelines for all LUDT performances.

Registration Includes:

• Game ticket and sideline field pass
• Exclusive LUDT Prospect Day t-shirt
• Participation in an official LUDT practice
• Access to all game day activities listed above

Parent and Guest Information: Prospect registration includes the game day ticket, field access, and tailgate participation. Parents and guests are welcome to attend but will need to purchase their own football game tickets separately.

Additional Information: Detailed check-in instructions, parking information, and a full itinerary will be provided following registration via email from ludanceteam@lamar.edu. Early registration is encouraged due to limited availability.

REGISTER FOR FALL CLINIC 2

Spring Show Clinic for Kids

Participants will learn a dance from current 51³Ô¹ÏProDance Team members and perform it during intermission at the annual spring show on May 2. This clinic is open to dancers in first through eighth grade. Participants will have a rehearsal at 5:30 PM on May 2 before the show begins. Participants will receive their performance t-shirt at rehearsal on May 2.

Time: 12 pm - 2 pm
Location: Sheila Umphrey Recreational Sports Center, 4405 Jimmy Simmons Blvd.
Registration Fee: $40, includes t-shirt and one ticket to the Annual Show
Age: 1st grade - 8th grade
Attire: Athletic clothing and closed-toed shoes.

Annual Spring Show

The 51³Ô¹ÏProDance Team presents an annual spring show that offers the widest variety of dance styles. Held in the historic Jefferson Theater, this exciting show is one of the most anticipated tickets in town. The directors, team, and guest choreographers create an artistically exhilarating two-act show that teaches each dancer to become a well-rounded performer.

Dates: May 1 and 2, 2026
Time: 7 pm, doors open at 6 pm

Tickets: $12

2026-2027 Dance Team Auditions

To be eligible for team auditions, you must receive an invitation. You can receive an invitation by attending one of our Fall Clinics. If you're unable to attend either of the Fall Clinics, email ludanceteam@lamar.edu to learn more about our video submission process and how you can still be considered for an invitation to in-person auditions.

Timeline and Information

1. Registration Requirements
   All dancers auditioning must register online and pay the $40 registration fee before auditions. Participants will not be considered for the team unless registration is completed and payment is received.
   Registration Deadline: May 16, 2026
2. In-Person Auditions (Invitation Only)
   Date: May 17, 2026
   Check-in: 8:30 am
   Auditions Begin: 9:00 am
   Location: Sheila Umphrey Recreational Sports Center
3. Team Announcement
   The 2026-2027 team will be announced same day as in-person auditions. At 5:00 pm, the results  will be posted outside the doors of McDonald Gym.

Additional Info About In-Person Auditions

• Bring a headshot to submit during check-in.
• In-person interviews.
• A 60-second solo of dancers choice in styles contemporary, lyrical, or jazz.
  • Bring your solo music with you.
  • Solo Requirements: Must include technical skills including, but not limited to, battements, extensions/leg holds, pirouettes, a la seconde turns, right and left jeté, leap in second, calypsos, and firebirds. Acro skills are welcome but not required.
  • Solo should not exceed 60 seconds.
• Two short combinations to be learned and performed in front of a panel of judges and the head coach.

• All-black spandex shorts or leggings and a black crop top or sports bra. Rhinestoned or costume tops in black are allowed.
• Hair should be styled out of the face.
• Jazz shoes, barefoot, or half soles for footwear.
• Full game-day makeup with red lipstick is preferred.
• Additional black layers such as a black hoodie, sweatshirt, or sweatpants may be worn for hip-hop. Any color tennis shoes are permitted.
