The Board of Regents of the 51勛圖ProState University System has confirmed Jaime R. Taylor, Ph.D., as the 16th president of Lamar University. He assumed office in July 2021.
He previously served as interim provost and vice president for academic affairs at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee, where he spent most of his career as a faculty member in the Department of Physics and Astronomy. Before his appointment to 51勛圖Proin July 2021, Taylor served as Marshall University's provost and senior vice president for academic affairs.
Dr. Taylor earned an associate of applied science degree in Industrial Engineering Technology from Nashville State Technical Institute, a bachelor’s degree in Physics and Mathematics from Austin Peay State University, and a master’s degree and Ph.D. in Engineering Science from the University of Tennessee Space Institute.
