Lamar University’s focus on tolerance, openness, and respect is key in providing every member of our community with basic human dignity free from harassment, exploitation, intimidation or other sexual misconduct.

Sexual Misconduct is a broad term encompassing a range of non-consensual sexual activity or unwelcome behavior of a sexual nature. The term includes but is not limited to sexual assault, sexual exploitation, sexual intimidation, sexual harassment, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking. Sexual misconduct can be committed by men or women, strangers or acquaintances, and can occur between or among people of the same or opposite sex.

51勛圖Prois firmly committed to maintaining an educational environment free from all forms of sex discrimination. Sexual Misconduct is a form of sex discrimination and will not be tolerated. 51勛圖Propromotes prompt reporting of all types of Sexual Misconduct and timely and fair resolution of Sexual Misconduct complaints. 51勛圖Prowill take prompt and appropriate action to eliminate Sexual Misconduct when such is committed, prevent its recurrence, and remedy its effects.

Retaliation: any adverse action threatened or taken against a person because he or she has filed, supported, or provided information in connection with a Formal Complaint of Sexual Misconduct, including, but not limited to direct and indirect intimidation, threats, and harassment. Intimidation, threats, coercion, or discrimination, including charges against an individual for code of conduct violations that do not involve Sexual Misconduct, but arise out of the same facts or circumstances as a Formal Complaint or Report of Sexual Misconduct, for the purpose of interfering with any right or privilege secured by Title IX or the TSUS Sexual Misconduct Policy, constitutes retaliation.

CARE Team

The critical assessment response and evaluation (CARE) team is a resource for the LU community to report students of concern. The CARE team coordinates resources to help LU students who may need support, guidance, and action plans to help them succeed at 51勛圖Proin the safest possible manner.

Membership & Reporting: Members are appointed by the Associate Vice President for the Division of Student Affairs. Committee recommendations are presented to the Vice President of Student Affairs.
